Private Classes with Scott

Welcome and namaste, my name is Scott Page and I am a yoga instructor in Scottsdale, Arizona. I teach a wide variety of classes to a diverse group of students.

I have always been a spiritual seeker. When I was younger I loved the practices of martial arts and zen meditation. I have studied numerous religions and philosophies, all in search of peace, balance, spiritual growth, and the chance for enlightenment. Over 10 years ago, on the other side of the country, my searching brought me to yoga.

Yoga, with its balance of physical and spiritual practice, encompasses all the components of the holistic discipline I was seeking in other disconnected practices. In a relatively short time, yoga became—and still is—my passion. I began my personal yoga journey with the practice of astanga vinyasa yoga in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois. I studied with Wendy Green while living on the East Coast and, after moving to Scottsdale in 2003, continued my astanga practice with Dave Oliver, a well respected yoga instructor.

My enthusiasm for the practice of yoga led me to a teaching training program and to the path that I now follow as a yoga instructor. I was certified through At One Yoga and I'm a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance.

Many people are surprised to discover that I served four years in the Marine Corp where I attained the rank of Sergeant and worked as a Weapons Instructor. After that, I did everything from hot tar roofing, life insurance sales, professional floral design and calligraphy, to psychological counseling of dually diagnosed young adults in a Psychiatric Hospital. I have been a volunteer First Aider as a certified EMT. I have owned my own business. I have even worked at Indian casinos as a professional Blackjack and Poker Dealer. It has been an interesting journey.

I am constantly trying to live what I teach, striving to lead a life of balance and calm. In this hectic, over stimulating world in which we live, it is never easy. I am what traditional yogis would call a "householder." I am married with children and responsibilities. This I find makes being calm very challenging at times. Playing the guitar, chanting, meditating, reading spiritual and motivational literature and writing poetry are all ways I channel my mind and settle my energy.

I believe that life is just one continuous awesome experience broken down into experiential moments. You can choose to be present and focused on the experiences that make up your life as it is occurring, or you can remain asleep and oblivious to these amazing life experiences. It all lies with your level of mindfulness.

If you are seeking an avenue to elevate your physical, mental and spiritual self, I recommend yoga. No matter your age or ability, it will help you develop greater strength, balance and flexibility. And it will increase your awareness.

I hope you will join me for a class (see practice with Scott). Of course if you are not near Scottsdale, Arizona, I encourage you to find someone in your area who can guide you to your highest potential.

Namaste.
